Poem that teaches: I AM THE RIVER OF LIFE

I AM THE RIVER OF LIFE

Would you believe when I say
That I am working all day?
I am the blood in the body
That goes around the way.

I run and glide, and rush and flow
These things I love to do.
I circulate through channels and pipes,
They say I am the river of life!

Some say that I am colored red,
Others say that I am blue.
It depends upon what they say,
It depends on what I do.

I am working all the time,
As directed by the pumping heart.
Carrying gases to and fro,
I never fail to do my part.

I pass through the arteries
With my fresh oxygen supply.
I travel through the veins,
With the dirty carbon dioxide.

I have different members by my side,
Each of them ready to serve you right.
But how do you know what they are?
Let us learn them by the heart!

Meet my red blood cells
That carry oxygen to the various cells,
And carbon dioxide from the cells too,
That makes its role count to two!

My white blood cells are brave
For they protect the cells outright
Against the bacteria and viruses
They’re engaged to fight!

My platelets are helpful
When you get a bruise or cut
They provide an easy solution
The provide the blood clot!

Now you understand why
They call me the River of Life
Not only I bring the important stuff
I also help the body stay on top!
